Although I love Cannon Fodder, this port (presumably the PC version?) is sadly lackluster. Performance is adequate but no more than that, image quality is.

We've searched the Windows 10 Store for the best sniper games and tapped four titles that include combat, assassin and zombie themes. While these games vary slightly in appearance and targets, they all nicely challenge your ability to shoot straight.

Sniper Fury places you in the midst of a global battle against terrorism. The game includes over 130 missions where you are tasked with taking out terrorists and disrupt their evil plots.

The armory provides you with a host of weapons ranging from assault rifles, sniper rifles, rail guns and a few top-secret prototypes. The 3D graphics are outstanding with plenty of detail and the effects offer realistic conditions that can impact your shooting conditions. Such as missions taking place in a snow storm where visibility is considerably reduced.

Along with the mission-based gameplay, Sniper Fury also includes a player-v-player mode where you can steal resources from other players by defeating their resources. These resources can be used to upgrade your arsenal. Costume form for theatre. If that wasn't enough, there are also daily events where you can win special weapons and prizes.

The only downside to Sniper Fury is that after the initial install of the game, a 720MB download is required. It's not a deal breaker, but don't expect to install and immediately jump into the action with Sniper Fury.

Sniper Fury is a free game, available for Windows 10 PC and Mobile. The game does have various in-app purchases that range from $0.99 to $99.99. The variety of missions, weapons, and graphics quality makes Sniper Fury a fantastic way to burn a little down time.

Sniper 3D Assassin

Sniper 3D Assassin is sharpshooter game that approaches the long distance shots in crime-fighting fashion. The storyline to this Windows 10 Mobile has your beloved being kidnapped and it is time for the criminals to pay.

Sniper 3D Assassin has plenty of sniper rifles for you to unlock and upgrade, tons of missions in the main gaming mode and daily missions to tackle for bonus weapons and accessories. Missions are urban oriented and include objectives such as taking out the local drug dealer, helping the police stop a jail break, and resolving a hostage situation.

Controls are simple, graphics are outstanding and gameplay challenging. It takes concentration to not only line up your shot, but also to find the correct target. The slow motion footage that follows the bullet to its target is a nice touch and if the visuals are too graphic, Sniper 3D Assassin has the option to dial things down a little.

Sniper 3D Assassin is a free game available for Windows 10 Mobile. The game does have several in-app purchases to buy gems and coins ($0.99 to $99.99) that are used to unlock and upgrade weapons. All in all, Sniper 3D Assassin is a fun mobile game to pass the time with.

Last Hope – Zombie Sniper 3D

The zombie apocalypse has struck and it is your job to defend your desert home from being overrun by the the shambling dead. Armed with a sniper's rifle and a handgun, you must pick off the zombies before they eat your brain.

Last Hope's armory includes a nice selection of firepower that includes assault rifles, sniper rifles, tommy guns and shotguns. You can also buy an assortment of backup weapons such as a fire axe, ninja star and an assortment of handguns.

Last Hope includes dozens of missions where you travel across your desert neighborhood to eliminate wandering zombies. These missions have you visiting the local athletic fields, canyons, villages and more. Controls are simple, graphics full of detail and gameplay offers plenty of challenges ranging from lining up your shots and finding all the zombies to blast.

The only nit I have with Last Hope is that an ad-banner is positioned at the top of the menu screens that blocks the upper portion of the screen. Luckily the ad-banner disappears during gameplay but to fully appreciate the free game, you need to make an in-app purchase of at least $1.29 to get rid of the banner.

Last Hope – Zombie Sniper 3D is available for Windows 10 PC and Mobile. It does have more of an arcade game feel, but Last Hope is a decent choice for those times you have a little time to waste.

Sniper Ops 3D: Kill Terror Shooter

Sniper Ops 3D is a Windows 10 shooter game that pits you against mixture of targets that range from terrorist groups to your average street thug. You play the role of a contract army sniper, facing over 150 missions to stop the bad guys in their tracks. Along with the mission based gameplay, Sniper Ops 3D includes side-missions to complete for bonus cash and gear.

Sniper Ops 3D has detailed graphics, easy-to-use controls and challenging gameplay. Patience is key to identify your targets and line up your shots. The arsenal of weapons at your disposal includes a variety of sniper rifles and assault rifles that can be upgraded by spending the loot you earn with each mission. You can also improve your skills at reloading and stability through upgrades.

The game does a nice job of simulating shooting with a scope by blacking out your peripheral view. Pull away from the scope and your side view returns. Sniper Ops 3D also has a setting to dial down the gore should it be too graphic for some gamers.

Sniper Ops 3D is a free game available for Windows 10 PC and Mobile with video advertisements popping up occasionally between missions. It is one of the more recent offerings in the genre of games and a decent way to satisfying that gaming itch.

While shooting games may not be everyone's cup of tea, all four Windows 10 titles are great time wasters. Graphics are top notch and mechanics of gameplay are not overly difficult to learn. Each game challenges your skills at patience, a steady hand and the ability to line up your shots accurately. You also have the sense of expedience to line up your shots before the bad guys win.
